At a time of intense debate over whether to trust scientific findings, a new paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) proposes “A Framework for Assessing the Trustworthiness of Research Findings.” The authors — research leaders with expertise in metascience, research integrity and ethics, and science communication — are members and staff of the National Academies’ Strategic Council for Research Excellence, Integrity, and Trust. Lead author Brian Nosek, PhD, is also Executive Director of the Center for Open Science (COS) and a professor at the University of Virginia. Co-author Susan M. Wolf, JD, is a Regents Professor at the University of Minnesota and chair of the University’s Consortium on Law and Values. Read the COS press release to learn more.
