Administrative Staff & Faculty Leadership

Ashton Batona, MA

Ashton Batona is the Director of Strategic Communications and Outreach for the Consortium. She has extensive communications, public relations, and marketing experience in nonprofits and higher education.

Dori Henderson, PhD

Dori Henderson is the Senior Administrative Director for the Consortium, where she is responsible for fiscal management, strategic planning, and the coordination of grants. She earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota, and has held several administrative leadership positions, both within and external to the University of Minnesota.

Francis X. Shen, JD, PhD

Francis X. Shen is a Professor and Solly Robins Distinguished Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota Law School, and also a Faculty Member in the UMN Graduate Program in Neuroscience. He is Co-Chair of the Consortium. He directs the Shen Neurolaw Lab and is Chief Innovation Officer of the Center for Law, Brain & Behavior at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Kaija Warner

Kaija Warner is the Administrative Associate for the Consortium. She is a University of Minnesota alum with a wealth of experience in administrative leadership. Previously, she worked at the American Montessori Society and the Minneapolis Bouldering Project, and she was a student intern with the Detainee Rights Clinic at the University of Minnesota Law School.

Susan M. Wolf, JD

Professor Susan M. Wolf is a Regents Professor; McKnight Presidential Professor of Law, Medicine & Public Policy; Faegre Drinker Professor of Law; and Professor of Medicine. She is Chair of the Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences.

Research Assistants & Student Workers

Owen Metzger, JD Candidate

Owen Metzger is a Consortium Research Assistant and a JD Candidate at the University of Minnesota Law School pursuing a concentration in Health Law and Bioethics. Before law school, he received his BA in Chemistry from Luther College and worked as a lab chemist for ten years. He is interested in the intersection of public policy and healthcare industry regulation.

Erin Shoemaker, JD Candidate

Erin Shoemaker is a Consortium Research Assistant and a JD Candidate at the University of Minnesota Law School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as a certificate in Health and the Humanities. Erin’s academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of health law, science, intellectual property, and technology.

Tenzin Sonam, BSB Candidate

Tenzin Sonam is a Student Communications and Research Assistant for the Consortium on Law and Values. She is an undergraduate student at the Carlson School of Management studying Marketing and Business Analytics. She is also the Co-Founder and President of Asians in Management at the University of Minnesota.
