The Masonic Cancer Center (MCC), a Consortium Member Center, has announced a new partnership designed to improve the health outcomes of Black men.Together with Positive Image, a nonprofit providing education and expanded healthcare access to Black communities, MCC is delivering a series of monthly “Power Over Cancer” presentations throughout 2025 that address particular cancers that disproportionately impact Black men. The series kicked off in March with a discussion of prostate cancer. Future sessions will occur from June through December and focus on nutrition, lifestyle changes, and early detection. The next session is the Men’s Empowerment Breakfast from 9-11am on June 7. Additional information and registration is now available. According to the MCC website, the goals of the new partnership are to create awareness in the community of cancer risk, symptoms, and screening; build greater trust between Black men and healthcare professionals; and support Black men as they participate in prevention and screening efforts.
