The Masonic Cancer Center (MCC), a Consortium Member Center, has partnered with University of Minnesota researchers and the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center to revolutionize cancer treatment through the use of adaptive T-cell therapies that target various forms of cancer throughout the body. The team is utilizing new gene editing technology to turn white blood cells into highly effective cancer-fighting ammunition. Drs. David Largaespada, Branden Moriarity and Ingunn Stromnes from the UMN are among those leading the groundbreaking research that is showing great promise. Dr. Largaespada says the partnership’s assembled experts each bring valuable expertise that will help more quickly advance the research. A $1.5 million grant from the Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics has made the partnership possible.
