A new paper published by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) shares tools to support ethics in research networks. “Advancing Engineering Ethics in Multi-Institutional Research Networks: Developing & Piloting Educational Case Studies” grows out of the NSF-funded NetEthics project, led by Consortium chair Susan M. Wolf, JD. The authors are NetEthics PIs Gillian Roehrig, PhD, Wolf, Timothy Pruett, MD, and Korkut Uygun, PhD. They developed educational case studies on data sharing, authorship, collaboration, attention to ethics and regulation, and network leadership. They piloted them with volunteers from a large, NSF-funded Engineering Research Center (ERC). The case studies were a valuable tool to advance dialogue and understanding of research ethics.
