Monday, June 12, 2023

Researchers led by Michael Garwood, PhD, of the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research, have developed a prototype for a portable MRI scanner that could be used to serve rural and underserved populations. Human trials on the new device will begin this summer if safety standards are met. Garwood is a member of the national working group for the Consortium’s NIH-funded project, Highly Portable and Cloud-Enabled Neuroimaging Research: Confronting Ethics Challenges in Field Research with New Populations.
