CTSI Research Links Food Insecurity During Adolescence to Disordered Eating and Obesity in Adulthood

Monday, June 21, 2022

In a study published by the Journal of Adolescent Health, Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) scholar Laura Hooper and co-authors determine that adolescents who experience food insecurity are at higher risk for binge eating and obesity as they become young adults. Previous research typically considered obesity, food insecurity, and disordered eating separately from one another. By establishing the link between them, Hooper and co-authors are helping clinicians consider better options for treatment of these interrelated health issues. CTSI is a Consortium member center.
