Large Language Model (LLM) chatbots and other AI-enabled tools are becoming more common in psychiatric care, particularly for addressing youth mental health. In order to consider the associated ethical, legal, and societal issues, a cohort including Consortium co-chair Francis X. Shen, JD, PhD, gathered at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Workshop participants explored the potential benefits, biases, and harms of using AI tools in mental health care, and developed a framework to promote "neurotech justice" in digital psychiatry. Published in NPP—Digital Psychiatry and Neuroscience, "Advancing Neurotech Justice in Youth Digital Mental Health: Insights from an Interdisciplinary and Cross-Generational Workshop" presents the group's findings.
