Rigorous evaluation of scientific evidence is essential for sound medical guidance on vaccination—and for public trust. The Vaccine Integrity Project at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), working with the American Medical Association, has completed an assessment of recent evidence on COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines to offer advice for the 2026-27 respiratory illness season. Published September 2 in JAMA, three systematic reviews evaluated 299 eligible studies. The evidence shows these vaccines provide meaningful protection from severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Read more about the Vaccine Integrity Project and the vaccine evidence reviews. CIDRAP is a Consortium member center directed by Prof. Mike Osterholm.
