The International Institute for Biosensing (IIB) has joined the Consortium as its 22nd Member Center. Patricia Khashayar, MD, PhD, MBA, serves as Director of IIB, which operates within UMN’s Research Computing. IIB is a global initiative that brings together experts from academia, nonprofits, industry, and government to advance biosensing technology in agriculture, healthcare, the environment, animal health, water quality, national security, and food safety. As IIB notes on its website, “In the last decades, (bio)sensors have revolutionized the way we measure complex phenomena in our bodies and in the world that surrounds us.” IIB's membership in the Consortium will grow its capacity to address the ethical, legal and policy issues raised by the biosensing revolution.
